Main Task: Front Cover FINAL

Main Task: Unmanipulated Photos

One of these will be one of my subjects in my contents page. There will be an article about her
Because Lisa is the main attraction in my magazine, i will use 3 pictures of her. One for the front cover, another cropped version for my contents page, and a bigger one for my double spread
I originally planned to have Her as my Front Cover girl, but because the camera quality wasn't up to scratch, i had to retake them.
I had retaken the pictures, now i feel that with the position and posture, one of this images should be used as an exclusive article.

Main Task: Case Study of a Publishing House

Musicmags is a distribution program managed by the Music Magazine Publishers Association and distributed by Alfred Music Publishing. It supplies a a dozen leading music magazines to retailers in US and Canada. Musicmags publishes magazine that have specific genres. It does not write about dance music, but, instead it writes about rock.
Musicmags targets people who use or are interested in specific instruments like drums and guitars. BASS PLAYER is a prime example of what type of magazines Musicmags publish. There is no specific gender or age for these types of magazines, because anyone could like guitars, I assume it’s generally and older audience. It uses it uses clear, dominant colours and tones, such as white or blue for backgrounds and thick sans font that often contrast with the background colour so it stands out. It doesn’t use fancy text because I assume the editor wants the text to be readable.
Other magazines, such as ALTERNATIVE PRESS focus on more of a harder rock genre, and can attract a younger audience. AP uses dark backgrounds and Bright text as well as blocky text with unique fonts. This backs up this my theory. This magazines target audience, again, is not specifically open towards one gender so I assume it is more for the teanagers and young adults who call themselves Goth or Emo. The darker colour scheme shows more of a negative vibe of music that most people wouldn’t enjoy, thus the name “Alternative Press”.
The Target audience is different for most of the magazines Musicmags produces because if it were to be the same, then there would be no need to release more than one magazine. The company would lose a substantial amount of money. It is also good because this means that Musicmags can publish magazines to a wider audience, thus increasing there popularity. This makes the company look Diverse.
Musicmags is a member of the MMPA which is specially for publishing uses only.

Main task: Profiling Your Audience

The Magazine reader: Alen West, is an average teenager. He is 17 years old, and lives with his Mum and Dad in a public neighbourhood. As a teenager, Alen finds that most of his time is spent listening to music on his Mp3 player. He listens to quite a lot of genres, but he preferes dubstep. On average he listens to music at least 1 hour a day. He says that music is a big part of his life because he uses it to concentrate, relax, and even sleep. He says that different tracks have different feels. He generally, On weekends, when he is not in school, he is normally hanging out with his mates, wheather he is going to a party, or just playing games. Him and his friends try to keep up with the latest trends and fashions by watching music videos, and seeing what their favourite artists wear. They say that the music they listen have a direct impact on the clothes they wear. like some teenagers, Alen has a job, this means he can afford to spend money on the latest headphones or t-shirt which means he is rarely out of fashion with the rest of his friends. Alen not only listens to music, but he wants to know more about what it is like to be a musician, he likes to read about his favourite artists and see what goes on in their world. There is no real reason why Alen listens is into music so much. He describes it as a hobby. Like most teenagers, Alen has a lot of free time on his hands, so it would be ideal for him to enjoy doing what he likes best.

From this I know that I would need to involve multiple colours via ink/ paint splatter etc, rather than black and white. The Music Magazine would need to display information about Interviews with artists and musicians, because that is what the public wants. The public wants a stunning main image. The readers dont mind havine the magazine looking a bit messy, aslong as its a consistant style, rather than have it completely messy or extremely tidy. They want a good magazine for a cheap price. tha dont want to be bombarded by a multitude of pages. They dont really mind how often its released.
