The Main Image/ Subject:
The main image is this main subject, in this matter, takes up one whole side of the page. It highlights one of the main issues or stories in the magazine. The colours used are Pink, with the shades, white and black. I believe the editor decided to use pink because it is a colour that hasn’t been used a lot for magazines. As well as being fresh and new, the colour pink is lighter than red, therefore more visible to see in a dark background. The text is blocky, striking people eyes as they view the text. This will be the first thing you will notice once you turn to the page. One thing that they have done, which I believe is a creative technique, is that they have coated only part of the text in pink, making it look like paint splatter. It makes the Text look less formal, and a bit more casual.
The Drop Down Letter:
The drop down letter is there to indicate the start of the text. It is about 3x the size of the regular text and is bold. The colour of the drop down letter is the same colour as the text columns, keeping consistency and being easy to see.
The Text Columns:
The Text columns are located on the right page and are presented neatly. Normally, the text columns have information about exclusive information or stories that are not normally in certain magazines. Often relating to the main image or other images on the double page spread. It is easy to see where a paragraph ends and where one starts, because the line of which one ends will be significantly shorter than others. This because if it were not, then it would be easy for readers to forget where they are.
The other images:
The other images are directly underneath the text columns and use identical scaling when compared to the text. This makes the double page spread look more organized. The images which contain people use either close ups or medium shots, that way, making it easier for people to see who they are suppose to be looking at. The images that have not people in them generally have a lot of white in them, making the text easier to read. The editor has done a fine job of making this double spread look professional as well as accessible for their target demographic.
The Title:
The title “typo sick” is not particularly done well. Not only is the text dull, but also, there is even smaller, blue text above it, which is hard to read. All the other content on the two pages really does draw attention away from the title; I believe this is the only let down on the double page spread.
